State authorities have been put on high alert to handle potential flash floods, waterlogging, and river overflows that have caused severe disruptions to normal life in rural and urban belts. In Assam, the flood situation remains critical with the official death toll rising and over 3 lakh residents affected across submerged villages, forcing thousands to seek shelter in state-run relief centers. Vast stretches of standing agricultural crops have suffered severe structural damage, while in northern mountainous districts such as Kishtwar and Doda, educational institutions were temporarily closed due to bad weather. Landslides triggered by incessant rains caused major blockages along critical national highway corridors, stalling heavy traffic while municipal corporations deployed emergency pumps to clear submerged low-lying residential sectors. Disaster management teams, alongside the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), are currently operating round-the-clock to prioritize food packet distributions, clean drinking water delivery, and essential medical supplies in affected zones. Meteorology experts attribute these intensified spell patterns to strong monsoon troughs, and forecast models suggest that heavy precipitation activity will likely persist over the next 48 to 72 hours.
