In a major legal update, the Supreme Court of India proposed and directed the formation of a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into allegations of financial mismanagements and cash thefts from the Ram Temple donation funds in Ayodhya. A bench led by top judges emphasized that the matter must be treated as a straightforward criminal investigation without letting public discourse descend into political mudslinging. The court noted that unverified corruption claims risk damaging public trust and the reputation of administrative bodies, cautioning all political factions to refrain from politicizing temple affairs. In response, the shrine trust has already deployed fresh cash-counting teams working under two-shift systems and increased institutional oversight from state banking partners. The SIT has been instructed to review all operational records, security logs, and financial flows to submit a final report within a specified timeline, ensuring complete transparency and structural reform for handling large-scale public donations moving forward.
